Sandy Hill – Part One

September 2011 – March 2012

I remember thinking, during my first evening at the Sandy Hill workshop, that I needed to do a really good job in order to prove that I belonged. In retrospect I needn’t have worried, as the atmosphere has always been extremely welcoming and supportive. With such a mix of skill levels represented, any aspiring artist can feel comfortable there.

In terms of materials, I was still drawing with either all graphite or all conte with no mixing. I did experiment with different colours of conte, and I like the way the pink ones turned out, but for the most part this is something that I gave up on pretty quickly. I need to try it again sometime.
